About

Five Poems is a literary journal for quality poetry written by poets who have a deep investment in their vocation and craft and want to share it with the world. Every issue is about those Five Poems selected. 

About the editor

Mary Louise Penaz holds a BA in English from Hunter College, where she was awarded the Academy of American Poets Award College Prize and the National Arts Club College Prize. She also holds an MA and Ph.D. in English and Literature from the University of Houston, Texas, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington Writing Seminars in Bennington, Vermont.

Her writing has been published in various literary magazines and anthologies.

She teaches literature, persuasive writing, reading comprehension, and problem-solving. She works as an independent consultant. Mary Louise lives with her husband and their Golden Great Pyrenees in New York City.
